BUSH FAMILY REFUGE

VMC’s Bush Family Refuge serves individuals who are in crisis and who may be at risk of losing their housing. It also serves the homeless who are in need of an assessment for housing services. Services provided include assistance with rent, utilities, transportation, prescriptions, clothing, toiletries, birth certificates and state-issued identification, and housing assessments
Who we serve
Knox County residents who are low income and/or are experiencing homelessness
What we provide
Coordinated Housing Assessment and Match Plan (CHAMP) assessments for literally homeless (staying in emergency shelter or a place not meant for habitation)
Clothing/Toiletries
Bus tickets for verifiable medical appointments or job
Assistance obtaining identification cards and birth certificates
Prescription payment assistance (non-narcotic only)
Referrals to community providers
Utility payment assistance (for those who are housed)
Rent payment assistance (for those who are housed)

Services are free
Times of service
Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Friday 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
