VMC Dental Clinic serves the low-income, uninsured people of Knox County. We are looking for a Part-time Dental Assistant. This Dental Assistant must be certified or registered in the State of TN with x-ray certification. VMC Dental Assistants work with a variety of paid and volunteer dentists, so flexibility is key. Pay depends on experience. The schedule varies as doctors are available to volunteer. For more information, please contact Paula Mays via email at pmays@vmcinc.org. No phone calls, please.

Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with individuals in permanent supportive housing who have experienced chronic homelessness, with a focus on those facing complex challenges. Your mission will be to provide ongoing support to ensure residents maintain their housing and improve their quality of life. Please submit your resume outlining your relevant experience, qualifications, and why you are passionate about this role. Send your application to csmith@vmcinc.org with the subject line "Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager Application."

Housing First Team Members

We are recruiting part-time (12-24 hours/week) evening and overnight staff for our team of Housing-First Team Members! Some PRN and seasonal work may be also available, ask if interested!

  • Want to gain valuable hands-on experience in social work, psychology, anthropology, animal science, or a related field?

  • Want to learn more about the reality of homelessness in our community?

  • Need the ability to work around your school schedule?

  • There is downtime during the night to work on assignments and a shift differential for the overnight shift!

Who are we?

The Foyer is a small (30 neighbors) low-barrier, housing-focused overnight homeless shelter developed with input from the neighbors we intended to serve: Neighbors who slept outdoors and had barriers to large traditional shelters.

  • We are a secular, LGBTQIA+ affirming, all-gender shelter.

  • We co-shelter people and pets who are experiencing homelessness together.

  • We believe housing is a basic human right and operate by the Housing-First model, which is evidence-based.

  • We promote Harm Reduction through Narcan training, use, and distribution. There are no sobriety requirements to access our shelter or housing programs.

Minvilla Manor and Caswell Manor are VMC’s permanent supportive housing (PSH) properties for formerly chronically homeless individuals.

  • We have on-site Case Managers who work on weekdays.

  • Housing-First Team Members staff the properties during the evening, weekend, and overnight hours and are responsible for neighbors’ safety and security.

Housing-First Team Members across all properties MUST be alert and on-duty throughout their shifts and must be ready to respond appropriately to emergency and crisis situations.

We shelter and house some wonderful people who’ve experienced serious trauma. We offer support, nonjudgement, and a sense of community. If you have something to offer our growing team, please contact Christy Smith via email at csmith@vmcinc.org.
